    Re: Lost Data!

Thank You for responding, I did allow access but I only have myself to blame for putting all my eggs in one basket...

In the meantime I played with various programmes that would convert HTML to csv and then I remembered using Word,Excel and Access to produce comma delimited files in the past...

So Word first to produce a txt file from my backup html file then into Excel to produce an xls file then Access for an mdb file where I have updated / entered new data!

From now on I will enter all the data directly into my access database (OFF Line!)and then convert to csv for upload to baseportal thereby becoming self sufficient and not vunerable to loss of data because I now have floppies with each type of file on it plus CD-Rom backup!

It has been a useful experience and I appreciate your suggestions and interest in my hours of need!

      Regards, Morgan

    Lost Data!

      Hi,

When I last entered data I had 484 records in my Spanish Wordfinder database
      Now I have only 34!

I have a copy of the original HTM File with the 484 records on my PC as a backup BUT how do I upload it or Import it into baseportal (The only option I can see is for csv)

Help! I can't face entering all the data again...

      Regards, Morgan

I don't know what happened to your data, did you changed anything or does it just happen? Maybe you've set the rights incorrectly that everybody could delete records?

To import your HTML file: Mmhhh, possible but possibly not easy ;-)

Try to open the file in your browser then select all and copy it to i.g. excel - if you are lucky Excel recognizes the table and you can then save the file from excel as CSV and import it to baseportal...

Or: Try to open it directly in Excel (I think it can import HTML files). Or try to open it in Word or OpenOffice or... ;-)

What you have to try is to convert the HTML to CSV in any possible way ;-)

If all worked, then a) copy the database inside baseportal and b) export the content of the database as a CSV to your local computer...
