    comparing user entries with "correct answers" in a translation database

      I am setting up a database to help Japanese people learn English.

      First, I write a sentence in Japanese and show several choices for the English translatation. (I have that part.) I have done that using the "option field".

      Second, I would like to be able to tell the user whether or not it is the correct choice.

      So I would like to compare the user answer with the "correct answer" and let the user know whether it is correct or not.

      Can someone please explain how this could be done? If so, what programming language is necessary?

      Or is there an easier way to do this? Always looking for an easier way :)

      Thanks in advance for any help!

    Re: How can i Assign a Auto Number to a field

      baseportal automatically sets a field which will give each record a unique Id its called "Id". Try this:

      <loop>
      $Id - $Field1...etc.<br>
      </loop>
