Message from mandrew on 12/12 2003, 10:34 +00:00 EMail: dbmanager@bereavedunited.com Server name and database IDMy site's host won't allow remote access to databases so baseportal seems the ideal solution for storing a list of user names and log in details, but I have the following query. Using an application called easyGen, from a company called Symbiant, I have created a login page and a username page for the site, which needs to be exported to my database. When it comes to configuring the export details, there are the following fields to input: Database - Only options given here are MySQL and Access, which do I choose? Server - I presume this is asking for the name of the server carrying the database, what is the name of the baseportal.com server? Username - my username at baseportal.com, I guess Password - my password, I guess database - I gues this is the name of the database I created, should I put the address as "http://baseportal.com/baseportal?htx=main&uid=mandrew", the route to my database? If not, what? And I only want to enable myself and two other site owners to view and modify details, how do I go about doing that? Thanks. Mark |
Message from Christoph Bergmann on 12/17 2003, 17:11 +01:00 EMail: info@baseportal.com Re: Server name and database IDbaseportal does not support remote access via SQL etc. too The only way is to output the data with a template the format you need it... But in this case I think this is really a good idea ;-) I would try to create the whole solution within baseportal - for password protection take a look in the library... |
