    Re: Form help needed w/ baseportal cgi-bin

      There is a part in the documentation which covers this question:

      http://baseportal.com/doku/index.html#a56

      Another way to see how forms should look in baseportal is to call a template with an <do action=all> in it and click on "Search" - then take a look at the HTML source...

    Form help needed w/ baseportal cgi-bin

      I cannot get the dropdown options to take an action in this form below. How do I write the baseportal form action to make it work?

      <form>
      <select style="font-family:'Verdana';color:#00cccc;background-color:#000000;font-size:8pt;">

      <optgroup selected label="Story Types">
      <option label="Newest" value="Newest">Newest</option>
      </optgroup>
      </select>
      </form>

      here is tghe html code from options type datafield from my baseportal page. hope this helps.i think you need to add multiple="multiple"..i could be wrong though .. i use the preset data field options selection for field setup during database setup.

      <form
      action="baseportal.pl?htx=/searsdvdtech/PRODUCTION_RM&amp;db=PRODUCTION&amp;cmd=add&amp;range=0,1"
      method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"></form>

        <tbody>
      <tr>
      <td align="right"><font size="2" face="arial,helvetica">Name:</font></td>
      <td><font size="2" face="arial,helvetica">
      <select name="Name:=" size="3" multiple="multiple">
      <option>DJ</option>
      <option>RM</option>
      <option>RAM</option>
      <option>TG</option>
      <option>TP</option>
      </select>

    Re: Form help needed w/ baseportal cgi-bin

      Thanks, I'll try this but I may still have problems. When I select an option in the dropdown, I want to run a database query or at least go to another template. Right now, it allows me to select the option and just sits there. I had a script included originally but still nothing -- the script and html is used successfully on a friend's site so I suspect it is in the way I have the form action set.

      I'll let you know if this works,

      It seems so easy when you say it :)

      I've got it working now! Thanks a lot!

      Just wanted to tell you that I've really enjoyed using baseportal. I'm finding more uses for it daily.
